I’m not even a Chris Pine stan, but I’m getting indignant on his behalf. No, butthurt Trek fans, Pine is not to an ogre who is selfishly keeping Trek 4 from getting made because he’s a greedy millionaire who won’t give up a farthing of his money for the nebulous greater good of the fandom or public good. He’s a dude expecting a studio that turns in massive profits every year to honor the contract it willingly made with him. A studio, that given its behavior since the announcement of the breakdown in negotiations, wouldn’t piss on him if he were on fire.
If your boss came to you at the Job Hut where you worked and said, “Heyyy, we know when we hired you we said we’d pay you $9.00 an hour, but see, we, uh, would really like to pay our managers more, and uh, we kind of overspent on those crappy cargo shorts nobody bought even on clearance, so uh, for the good of the company, would you take $6.00?”, you’d shit a brick of righteous fury, and rightly so.
Why is it any different because Pine is in a creative field that gives you something you want? If they’ll do it to Pine, they’ll do it to Cho and Urban and the others, and I guarantee you that most of them(besides Saldana)aren’t making as much as we think on these movies. Why should they eat shit because Paramount doesn’t want to be the one that takes the financial hit? Why should they pay the consequences of Paramount’s inability to handle its money?
This blog is for my fandom stuff... I write fanfic and enjoy reading it. I mostly write for 00q at the moment, but I read in any number of fandoms.
