Pinto in LA: I want them constantly coming up with excuses to see each other. Like Chris suddenly has an extra ticket to this thing. Or Zach needs to borrow Chris’s kitchen so he can cook everyone dinner. And they’re spending all their time out or surrounded by other people because neither of them is ready for what’ll happen if they find themselves alone.

Then Chris walks Wednesday down to Zach’s hotel one afternoon, and together they walk their dogs around the block a few times. And they’re still not really alone–there are plenty of other people on the sidewalk and cars driving by all the time and they never know when someone’s phone could be pointed their way–but it’s the first conversation they’ve had in a while where no one else listening in. Except…it turns out to be a little stilted, like maybe they’ve forgotten how to do this.

And Zach doesn’t like the way that makes him feel, like he’s shut off a part of himself, so maybe he drinks a little too much white wine and, yeah, finds himself at Chris’s front door at an hour not normally considered socially appropriate. But he has to fix this, or go ahead and just break it all the way.

Just finally read Mr. Nice Guy by @rabidchild67 (which is awesome and you should go read it right now…I’ll wait) and the last chapter made me remember this old comic from when Tim Kreider first moved to NYC.  Zach reminded me of a suave version of Tim in this cartoon.  Here’s the original Artist’s Statement:

The truth about this cartoon, which I will share with you website visitors, is that I originally drew it as a change-of-address postcard to notify all my friends that I was moving to New York for the winter. And then what with the frantic confusion of moving, I never found time to draw a cartoon for the week, and submitted this in desperation at the last minute, hoping that it would be funny enough. I promise new, non-recycled material next week.

The geeky cognoscenti among you won’t need to be told, but in case anyone else cares, the characters appearing in this cartoon include: Batman at the upper left, Superman ascending in front of the building, Doc Savage (whose headquarters are on the 86th floor of the Empire State Building) in the zeppelin, the Fantastic Four (three in their flying Baxter Car plus the Human Torch, who’s traced the F.F.’s trademark 4 in the sky), and of course Ol’ Webhead, all of them converging on King Kong, who is atop the E.S.B. swatting biplanes out of the sky.

I have been here for three days now. So far, no superhero sightings.

A question for you on this Pi(e) day: why is stid press tour pie your favorite pie?

rabidchild67:

Because he was so free and pure and it was kind of the beginning, I’d say, of a new kind of Pie, one a bit more sure of who he is, of his look and personal style. So it all starts with that Pie attending Coachella, look at this little scamp:

So fuzzy!

This was when he first started sporting a beard and boyfriend took that shit seriously once it all grew in! it’s nicely trimmed and shaped, and oiled and everything. So nice. Look at this clear-eyed gentleman:

OK not so well groomed here, but look at the 3 or 4 little grey hairs poking through. Sigh.

And let us also never forget the Pinto hip comparison, which I am contractually obliged to feature here:

And he really seemed to be coming into his own IRT personal style look at this GQMF:

OMG his stylist and/or tailor ought to win an Oscar.

Damn son:

Now, I could be wrong, but this was also the time when our beloved Pinto wordplay really picked up steam, as detailed below

Let us also not forget the fact that this happened:

And last but certainly not least, the Into Darkness press tour gave our fandom…
