For @mi6-cafe‘s “O Death” challenge. I subjected @boredpsychopath-jc to pre-reading two versions of this cruel piece. This is the short version. Sorry and thank you xxx

He brought it upon other people. Not directly: he made the guns that sent them bullets and death. He must face it too. Everyone does. He knew it’s inevitable, but he didn’t know how or when. Nobody does. This is not a bad way to go, on a mission, for queen and country. Christ, he really should’ve taken the consulting job instead, death by caffeine and Powerpoint is perhaps alright after all. Shattered, seismic pressures pulsing, bone muscle and sinew splintering, he wants to howl, to crawl, out of his skin, out of being. Every synapse burns, every heartbeat thrums, pumping blood out of him. Warm. Five, seven minutes until he passes out? If he’s lucky. This is definitely a bad way to go but at least he’s not drowning please he just wants to go in an exhale it’ll be over.

Writing…

I also wrote 1500 words so far today, putting this chapter of Cleaving at 6k so far, and still several scenes to go.  I could split it, but then there’d be basically no plot in the next chapter.  Hmmm.  I think it’s just going to be a long one.

I just finished my Halloween costume…

And I’m super excited.  I’m going to be a black widow spider, and I found this great ballgown made of black skull lace, added a red satin hourglass to the bodice, and then sewed narrow feather boas coming out of the sides to be the extra legs.  Then I strung them to a pair of gloves with fishing line, so all my legs will move when I move my arms.  And I got some spiderweb lace to make a mourning veil.

I get to wear it tomorrow for the first time, because we’re going to a Halloween themed ballet where they encourage the audience to come in costume (Halloween is basically a high holiday here).
