Spent all weekend rling (and decorating for Halloween, because it’s work and I like to relax and enjoy them before I have to put them all away again). So even though there have been no snippets for a while, I’m writing now in a local cafe and hope to have some soon. Because I have the day off, and though I expect to work for a while , I’m doing this first.
I’m in public, though, so can’t really bring up the mood board for part 1 of this chapter as reference 😦
I was tagged by @ato-the-bean to list four albums I’ve been listening to recently.
Like ato said, I’m also more of an iTunes playlist girl, but here’s what I’ve got. (No links, sorry, trying to link things on tumblr mobile is a pain in my generous posterior.)
1) Hedwig and the Angry Inch Soundtrack!!!! (because I saw it live in the city this week, so I’ve had Wig In A Box stuck in my head for days and days.)
2) Sia – Colour The Small One : I think I got this album in something like 2003 from a friend, and busted it out recently because I was making a playlist, and needed to listen to it again.
3) The Swell Season – Strict Joy (Deluxe Edition) : same reason as the last one. I bought this a few years ago, listened to it some, and liked it ok, but I pulled it back out like a month ago, and I’m really into it this time around. super good.
4) Songs of the Siren : this is a Starbucks mix album from the mid-late 90s, and it is just unbeatable. everything from Billie Holiday to Richard and Mimi Farina to Shawn Colvin. spectacular.
@ato-the-bean OMG I DID NOT KNOW THERE IS A VOLUME TWO 😮 and yeah, I love zero 7- the same friend who gave me the Sia album gave me zero 7 at the same time, lol.
Volume 2…arguably better than volume 1.
@ato-the-bean oommmmggggg I mean I have most of these songs in other forms but now I have a mighty need! also, facts about jimmy is my fav Shawn Colvin song, and the reason I wrote a whole angsty little fic series titled after it, lol.
I’m more of a Steady On/Fat City era Shawn Colvin fan, but I like that song too. Did you see she’s coming to Freight and Salvage? Also, do you like Jonatha Brooke, Melody Gardot, or Rachel Yamagata? They’re all sirens in my book…

Also, I’m not voting for Bill Clinton. I’m voting for Hillary Clinton. And I’m sick of people blaming Hillary for her husband’s conduct. It’s just so typical, no matter what bad thing happens, it’s always the woman’s fault. It’s her fault he cheated on her. It’s her fault she stayed with him. It would have been her fault if she left him too. It’s her fault she got angry at the women involved in the affairs, and it would have been her fault if she had had nothing to say about it at all. Fuck. That.
