FW whatever day this is…

There’s so little of this chapter that I can share without completely spoiling it, but here’s a short out-of-context snippet.  From Cleaving, but referencing Bleary.

Chris took a deep breath.  “To get that feeling for Steve, that terror and exhilaration and sense of being almost sure you’re right and this kiss is welcome, but oh if you’re wrong it’s so, so bad.  To get all that, I was thinking of the first time I kissed you.

“You were… man, you were just not hearing what I was trying to tell you, and I remember this moment, I could almost hear a voice in my head whispering ‘jump!’  So I did.  I leaned in like I’d wanted to a hundred times before, but had always not, and when our lips touched my stomach actually flipped like I was falling.   I poured everything I had into that kiss — everything that I didn’t seem to have words for… or maybe the words I had didn’t reach you.  And there was this horrible moment that lasted an eon when I was sure I’d made a terrible, terrible mistake.  And then, suddenly it wasn’t a mistake at all.  I wasn’t falling.  I was flying. And it was perfect.”

what she says: I’m a writer
what she means: I have approx 2647 plot/character ideas floating around my head at any given time but there is no way in hell my disorganised ass is getting any of this down on paper any time soon

To celebrate the Fanfiction Writers Appreciation Day on August 21st, and following this post, here’s what you can do to show your favorite fanfiction writers how grateful you are for their work!

Whether you are just a reader or a writer as well, on August 21st:

  • Go on AO3, FF.net, Wattpad or any other fanfiction website, even Tumblr, and leave comments on your favorite fics. It doesn’t matter if you’ve already reviewed them, just do it again. It doesn’t even have to be a long comment, just show your appreciation. Tell the writers how much you love their fics. Let them know what they mean to you.
  • Since you’re there, give kudos, favorite their fics, vote, like them.
  • Send your favorite writers an encouraging message. Tell them how much you love their work. Tell them which of their fics is your favorite and why. Tell them why they’re important to you.
  • Make a post recommending some of your favorite fics to your followers so that they have a chance to read them as well and share them with others. Spread the word.

Make this a very special day for your favorite writers, but remember to nurture them often. They spend countless hours working on plots, developing characters and creating worlds that wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for them. And they do it for free, of their own accord and frequently during their free time. It takes hard work and commitment and love for what they’re doing. And they do it for them just as much as they do it for you, so appreciate it.

They give you infinite ways in which your favorite characters find love, go on adventures and get to experience different lives, new challenges. They give you unimaginable versions of your favorite stories that you’ll just never get to see in the official storyline. They give you the opportunity to fall in love with your favorite characters all over again. Be grateful for that and don’t be afraid to express it.

Show your favorite writers how much you appreciate them and you might just make their day. And a writer who knows that their work is loved is a happy writer. Never forget that. Always share your love 🙂

Yeah, exactly. I saw in one of the reviews a person writing that ‘Pine was surprisingly good’. Well, for us that’s not surprising at all 😀

Yes, though I think that it’s easy to overlook the more subtle parts of his performance in the Trek films if you only see them once each and are overwhelmed with the spectacle.  So I’m glad he’s taking these character drama roles where his subtlety really shines.  I hope he never stops punching and riding motorbikes and blowing shit up and having quipped one-liners (let’s never do that again), but I’m glad his roles are more diverse now, and his audience will broaden.  This was not as arty a film as Z, in my mind, less Disney than Hours and his other Disney films.  It has the potential to really broaden his fanbase t folks who don’t like genre films.  I’m glad for him.

I do hope that a theater will be showing it …and I’m curious how Pine played this character.
Often you see actors staying in a character and you see those character traits back in a different role

This one felt really different for me, but maybe closest to Finest Hours and Z for Zachariah.  We don’t see anything brash, but we see some of the struggles we see in Kirk’s quieter moments.  We also see a bit of that *maintaining an internal integrity even while breaking rules* that we see in some of Pine’s characters.  But even so, I never SAW those other characters, and almost from the beginning, I never saw Pine…I saw Toby.  In fact, I’d say the only time I saw Pine and not Toby is when most of his face was obscured and I could on;y see his eyes, which is interesting in itself.

I hope you get to see it too, but if it never comes, it will be a film that translates well to dvd/bluray.

I had to have the heart-eye pics right next to each other, but I actually don’t know how to do that.

I can’t wait to get in a part of a wordplay as foreplay where I get to use this because fucking look at them I’m dying here.

edit:  Now that @seepunkrun has taught me how, I can have them really side by side…smaller, but clearly heart-eyeing each other.

And I’m TOTALLY working these looks in to my fic.  jfc.
