(This is not at all complete, but I’m afraid if I don’t post something now, I won’t have anything done today..)
Because Chris is going to be in town for the premiere of “The Boys in the Band,” Miles makes himself scarce. It’s only fair, considering Miles got to be with Zach for “The Glass Menagerie.” They don’t hash out a score for things that happened before Miles came into the picture, so Chris doesn’t “owe” Miles anything for having been at Zach’s Broadway debut.
Chris and Zach don’t see each other as often as they used to, but Chris is grateful that Miles is willing to share, even if it’s only with him. Clinging to monogamy is part of what broke Zach and Jon up, and Chris doesn’t want to be the reason behind another of Zach’s failed relationships. He seems especially happy this time. Chris would feel terrible if he made Zach fuck it up.
“Dude, no one takes photos for
Instagram in portrait mode, give it here!”
Zach snatched the phone from Chris’s
hand and turned it on the platter that sat between them. “I don’t even know
what you’re talking about, anyway. They’re just pancakes.”
“They are not just pancakes. They’re perfectly round! And
these berries are delicious! Look at how the syrup just kind of flows off them? It’s like a food ad.”
Thirty minutes earlier…
Zoe gaped at the carnage in the
trashcan. “How many of these have you thrown away?”
Zach barely looked up from dispensing
creamy batter through a squeeze bottle. “I dunno, all of them?”
“Zachary!”
“Shut up, it has to be perfect!
You don’t understand, that dinner he made was amazing. Did I mention the foie?”
“You haven’t shut up about the
foie in two weeks. I don’t know why you’re being so competitive about this.”
Zach straightened up and cocked
an eyebrow. “Have you met me? Now, the perfect strawberry isn’t going to
discover itself: you’ve got 3 more quarts to go.”
I haven’t had time to finish the fic I was working on today, and I didn’t want to arrive at the party empty-handed, so I have a teeny (exactly 100 words because I’m a purist) Pinto drabble instead. I used one of the writing prompts @ato-the-bean posted a few weeks ago.
Prompt: “That’s the nice thing about telling the truth. You don’t have nearly as much to keep track of.”
As soon
as they’re through the door, Chris tosses his jacket aside and collapses on the
couch. “Is it just me or was that the easiest press day ever?”
Chuckling,
Zach slides into the spot next to him. “That’s the nice thing about telling the
truth. You don’t have nearly as much to keep track of.”
Chris
takes Zach’s hand with a hum of agreement. He’s silent for a moment, studying
their entwined fingers. “I feel like we should have done this a long time ago.”
“Hey,”
Zach murmurs, leaning in to kiss him. “We’re here now. That’s what matters.”
