Sixish Sentence Sunday…

I’ve written 650 words of my Pinto de Mayo story…

Come on in, my fellow Beans, the water’s lovely… it’s been a long time, but it feels like coming home.

Okay, I’m sharing.Ā  Here you go.

11:58 p.m.

LLAP: Ā Hey man, congrats on the new role.

CP: Uh… what new role? Ā And what are you doing up at 3 a.m. eastern? Ā Go to sleep old man.

LLAP: Ā The… what is it? Ā Farmer? Train engineer?

CP: You must have me confused with one of the other Chrises. Ā I don’t have anything like that going.

LLAP: I just figured you were being ā€œmethodā€ with your current sartorial choices…

CP: …

CP: You’re an asshole.

LLAP: You love it.

CP: I love pockets. Ā Especially on planes. Ā It’s a utilitarian choice. Ā And you of all people don’t get to throw stones.

CP: May I remind you of exhibit A:

CP:

LLAP: Okay, fair. Ā But there are options with better pockets that don’t adapt toddlerware into a new definition for ā€œmanchildā€

CP: You are on a roll tonight. Ā Can’t sleep? Ā Or did you set an alarm to give me shit in the middle of the night? Ā

LLAP: The night is warm. Ā The Prosecco is cold. Ā This could work for you: https://www.scottevest.com/shop/mens-jackets/mens-winter-jacket/revolution-jacket-men.shtml

12:05 a.m

CP: Okay, you have a point. Ā That would address the pocket issue. Ā And zippers would keep things from falling out, which sometimes happens when I try to use the tiny restroom and

LLAP: …

CP: You know what? Nevermind.

LLAP: …

CP: Just stop

LLAP: I’m sorry, I actually dropped the phone I was laughing so hard.

LLAP: I just imagined you undoing the front bib and everything crashing to the floor

CP: That only happened once.

LLAP: …

CP: shut up

LLAP: …

CP: Seriously. Ā Whatever you’re typing, erase it. Ā I’ll buy the jacket. Ā I’m buying it now.

LLAP: It’s for the best. Ā In many ways, it would seem.

CP: Hush.

LLAP: and you’ll get less mockery from the press

CP: Right. From the press.

I’m looking at the calendar…

And noticing a certain fandom holiday is fast approaching…  are we doing anything for it this year?Ā  And I’ve been a bad Bean, off in other fandoms much of the year…but we come home for the holidays, am I right?

Asking fellow Beans @entrenous88, @elisa-pie, @hopeforyouyet, @loves-pie, @psychoticpterodactyl16, @rabidchild67, @semperama, @seepunkrun, @suedescripture, @trekbedtimestories, @unculturedmamoswine, @wolfi-sama, and anyone else who wants to chime in.

Since our little pinto family has scattered somewhat to other fandoms, perhaps we could do a fandom fusion extravaganza? As long as you don’t ALL write It and Stranger Things aus, we’ll be ok šŸ˜‰ (though I’d be 90% likely to do a warrior cats au if I wrote anything so)

Interesting idea!Ā  All the crossovers and mashups… hmmm.Ā  Maybe we should make it an option rather than a requirement, just to appeal to the widest array of content makers.

Nooooo. In the nicest way possible. No. Pinto de mayo is PINTO. Please don’t put the final knife in my heart and post other fandom content to celebrate pinto de mayo. I’m going in to mourning if you do.

Hmmm.Ā  Well, that’s a good point too.Ā  And it also feels like while some fandoms are easy to crossover (e.g., Bond and Sherlock), I haven’t really seen Pinto crossed over with anything but Trek.Ā

I guess the question becomes is it more of a death toll if we have mostly crickets and 1-2 ā€œpureā€ Pinto works, or if we have 10 that involve other fandoms as well.Ā  I don’t think I’d do a crossover… the other fandoms I write don’t mesh well with Pinto, but I want to encourage as many folks as possible.Ā  And I have zero interest in being fandom police about it.

I’ve been a bad bean too, but it’s not that I’ve been off in other fandoms – it’s just that I’ve hardly written anything over the past year. But I’m slowly getting back into it so I can try? Even if it’s just something little. I’m sad that Pinto fandom has gone so quiet.

Yes!Ā  Trying is good!Ā  Little is good!Ā  Drabbles are wonderful!Ā  Little tiny Pinto moments…

I’m definitely going to try to write something! Like @loves-pie, my problem lately has been less other fandoms (although I do have some new interests ngl), but just that it’s been hard to write ANYTHING, but Pinto de Mayo can serve as a fun reason to get back in the saddle, even if I only manage a short thing! Last year I think we were pretty scattered too, and we still managed to have lots of new fic on PdM, so I’m sure we can do it again (if people are interested, that is).

Gonna tag a few more people who may or may not want to come home for the holidays, as you said. šŸ˜€ No pressure, guys!Ā @srarahcha, @zjofierose, @mimblebee, @voldiebuns, @stellarbisexual, @commodorecliche, @cardassiansunrise

i’ve been looking at the calendar too!! last year’s Pinto de Mayo inspired me to write my first pinto fic! and afterwards it got me so galvanized to write more and i absolutely havent… BUT. the last couple days ive been thinking about a followup to last year’s fic. so i can work on that! and i love the idea of drabbles. lets get some prompts going!

@bookworm428 @struckamatchwithfeeling

I hope I can push something out but like others I haven’t been able to write much at all. Maybe a prompt/ticket thing and publish on PdM

Maybe we should have excitement-generating activities leading up to PdM.Ā  We have 3 weeks.Ā  So maybe

Week 1: Why we love them/what we’d love to see them in.Ā  Recommending old stories/art, showing love to old, stalled out WIPs, and posting prompts.

Week 2: Headcanons, teasers, and drabbles.Ā  Did you start something?Ā  Share a few lines.Ā  Didn’t start something but reading those old stories made you remember a headcanon? Tell us about it.

Week 3:Ā  more teasers leading to the BIG REVEAL.

Or something…I’m totally making this up.Ā  But it feels like we might get further supporting each other and creating some community buzz over the next few weeks as opposed to just acknowledging a deadline.Ā

aight, the pinto de mayo manip is ready and queued :>

full offense, I’d post it right this second if I knew I’d manage to make another good one for Pinto de Mayo that I can upload insteadĀ

I’m working on something right now that will either be posted as a teaser to get people motivated (I hope) or as the beginning of a new fic.Ā  Either way, I think posting little things in ADVANCE of PdM could help drum up excitement.Ā  But I hear you about not wanted to peak before the actual holiday…

whyjm:

ā€œBecause that’s the thing about Scooby-Doo: The bad guys in every episode aren’t monsters, they’re liars. I can’t imagine how scandalized those critics who were relieved to have something that was mild enough to not excite their kids would’ve been if they’d stopped for a second and realized what was actually going on. The very first rule of Scooby-Doo, the single premise that sits at the heart of their adventures, is that the world is full of grown-ups who lie to kids, and that it’s up to those kids to figure out what those lies are and call them on it, even if there are other adults who believe those lies with every fiber of their being. And the way that you win isn’t through supernatural powers, or even through fighting. The way that you win is by doing the most dangerous thing that any person being lied to by someone in power can do: You think.ā€

Thanks, @semperama, I knew I was missing people when I put this together late last night.Ā  We want as many around the holiday table as possible!Ā  In fact, let’s do it buffet style, so we’re sure to maximize space and variety:
