(now watch me forget about at least half of the stuff he dislikes)

• Baths: ‘Baths get too hot. I don’t really understand them, you are just in the bath sweating – it’s disgusting,’

• Mediocrity: ‘Mediocrity scares me. It’s the fear of not being as good as you want to be. If you give over to that fear, it will sabotage you.’

• His (literal) ‘big head’: he apparently talked about it on the radio.

• Lattes: ‘I think lattes are a crime against espresso.’

• Shaving: ‘I really like the ritual of shaving. I like getting the perfect brush and finding the right sandalwood soap. The act of shaving, though, is not fun. I like beards and the ease of them.’

• The word ‘should’: ‘I think the most dangerous word in the English language is should. I should have done this. Or I should do that. Should implies responsibility. It connotes demand. Which is just not the case. Life ebbs and flows.’

• Fake tan: ‘It’s part of the gig, and having a tan certainly makes you look better, even if it’s gross.’

• Modelling: ‘The world of modeling fascinates me to know but is not for me (…) Because with acting at least you have the barrier of lines and words and a character (…) Often times, people are just looking about how fat or skinny [a person is]. I just couldn’t deal with it. I don’t have thick enough skin quite honestly.’

• Paparazzi: ‘I certainly despise them with all my soul’. Also: ‘They fucking suck’. Also:

• Social media (and the internet, to some extent): ‘No, fuck no. What am I going to tweet about? My sneakers? Or, ‘I have 140,000 friends on Facebook.’ What does that even mean? I find it to be a waste of time. The Internet is so caustic; just a place where people get to spew nonsense and bullshit.’

• Russia’s anti-gay law: ‘Clearly awful, archaic, hostile nonsense. I think we should do more than just send gay Olympians there. What’s happening in terms of gay rights or the lack of it is extraordinary and awful.’

• Spiders: ‘Not a fan of spiders. I saw the movie Arachnophobia, which was single-handedly rated in the top three worst choices of my life.’

• Seeing himself on screen: ‘I look at myself and say, “I can’t believe my head’s that big. Thank God my hair doesn’t look like a bird’s nest.” I am critical of myself like everyone else. You go to a movie theatre and you are forty feet high. I had bad skin as a teenager and I am a shy person, but I think I am in the perfect business to fight my insecurities.’

• His eyebrows (and people messing with them): ‘When I first started out, everyone thought they were too much. In my first job, they dyed them. Then another tried to pluck them, and that looked awful. Now I won’t let them touch my eyebrows.’ Also:
