Okay over 300 people have reblogged that “My sexuality: Chris staring hard At Zach blah blah blah” post, and here is my question: WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE? Why are they not participating in fandom? How do we entice them to actually like….join us?
Patience….they are still in denial. Read the tags in all of the WAF, there are so many #i don’t ship real people tags #but, it’s adorable.
We’ve just ended phase 1: Promo Tour, and have started Phase 2: Post promo tour denial. They have gotten used to seeing them on their dash; used to the endorphin bump. They aren’t sure why they are feeling a little ‘eh’ these days. They have this ‘need’ but they don’t quite know what they want. They look to other fandoms, and it’s not quite it. They are restless.
This is we, the current fandom, need to be ready for phase 3. Show them the fandom to keep them. The starter pack. Rec all the fic! “Oh, I know you don’t normally, but this is so well written!” repeat as necessary.
“I don’t ship real people but” is the last thing people say before they start shipping real people. It’s like the fandom version of “Hold my beer.” Famous last words.
