4) He doesn’t even realize he’s doing it, Zach thinks, watching Chris’ thumb rub idle circles on his leg as he is reading.

5)  Zach woke abruptly with several thoughts at once: 1) he was being
spooned from behind by someone with a persistent hard on; 2) Chris was
bi, and used to topping with women (one would presume), and would
probably want “his turn” at some point; 3) Zach didn’t bottom… it
wasn’t a religious thing, but he had his reasons, mostly to do with how
damned vulnerable it made him feel with relative strangers; 4) they
probably should have talked about this before stumbling into bed
earlier.

6) “You ready for the big day?” Chris asked Nathan in hushed tones,
changing his diaper as the first blush of dawn filtered through the

8)  “Fuck,” Chris muttered as he stubbed his toe in the dark.

9)  The phone only buzzes once, vibrating against the wood of the nightstand.

10)  C: So, Valentine’s Day is coming up.

11) “Coffee?” the waiter asked.

12)  The first time it happens, it’s completely by accident.

13) “Any luck?” Chris asked when Zach wound his way back through the crowd to where he’d left Chris and their luggage.

14) The music was loud, pounding against his temples, and Zach hadn’t seen anyone he knew for at least a half hour.

15)  “It is an illogical turn of phrase.”  “I know, Spock.”

16)  The wind blew my mother’s dress around her legs, and she quickly reached up to secure her hat before the gust tugged the wide brim, giving it wings.

17)  I smoothed the creases from the brown paper that Nana’s package had been wrapped in, spreading it on the kitchen table.

18)  He was late.
