when jim was quite literally given a second chance at life, he knew that this time he had to make spock understand. so when mccoy left the hospital room, jim looked up at spock and said, “i need you to know why i went back for you.” spock opened his mouth, preparing to repeat the words he had said to jim when he was dying, but he was unable to speak when jim grabbed his hand and interlaced their fingers. rubbing the pad of spock’s thumb with his own, he repeated himself.
Zach
settled into the back of the couch and closed his eyes for a moment. Harold
jumped from the cat seat in the windowsill and padded over, leaping into his
owner’s lap and hunkering down to knead at Zach’s belly. Zach’s hand came up to
fiddle with the elderly cat’s ears.
“I see some people don’t object to my sweater,” he said with a dry chuckle. “Should we get back to work then?” The cat purred more
loudly and settled on top of Zach’s lap, burying his front paws beneath him. “Yeah,
let’s take a break.”
Zach pulled his iPhone out from somewhere to check his messages. From Chris’s
vantage in the corner of the room, he couldn’t guess what he was looking at,
but after several moments’ swiping of his thumb across the face of the thing,
he seemed to settle on something.
“I remember that night,” Zach said with a smile that made his eyes
crinkle. He sat staring for so long, Chris became concerned. Curiosity getting
the better of him, Chris skirted the edge of the room so he could peer over
Zach’s shoulder.
“Oh,” Chris whispered as he saw the photo Zach was staring at. It was of Chris,
taken during the Into Darkness press
tour. One of the premiere parties, where they
were all seated at a large table at some fancy restaurant. The whole
cast had glad-handed their way through an interminable evening of
press lines and red carpets, their good humor and a fair amount of champagne
and inside jokes fueling them. He seemed to remember Karl putting a microphone
in his mouth somewhere along the line. Was
it that night? For some reason, Chris couldn’t recall exactly which this
was, and it disturbed him. He’d been forgetting a lot of these details lately.
But not Zach, apparently. “Our last night together,” he said quietly, his thumb
still hovering over the photo as he hunkered down into the couch. As he did, the cardigan he wore rode up.
Glancing at it, Chris caught sight of the label. “What the..?” Without thinking, he reached out to pull the collar of the thing back to get a
clearer look. Emporio Armani it read.
He looked down at the left sleeve and saw a small bleach stain on the cuff,
remembered the laundry mishap that had put it there—was it four years ago? Before he
could react further, Zach shivered violently, and Harold rose from his lap so
abruptly it made Zach flinch. The cat hissed viciously, and growled, and when
Chris pulled his hand away, it was clear the cat’s eyes were tracking
him.
“Harold!” Zach scolded, but the cat tore out of the room before Zach could do
anything more.
When Spock is explaining to Uhura about how he melded with Pike when he
was dying and found that Pike was experiencing the same feelings he had felt when Vulcan had been destoryed, the camera stays on Kirk when he says “such a feeling is something I choose never to experience again.” Later
on, all of the emotions he listed previous were evident in Spock’s
expressions during Kirk’s death scene, like he didn’t have the choice to
‘not feel’ this time because the emotions were so overwhelming. Spock did experience all those feelings again when saying goodbye to Jim. I may be looking too much into it but there you have it (っ◕‿◕)っ ♥
(hɨraɪ̯θ), noun | A Welsh, untranslatable feeling, hiraeth is loosely described as a homesickness for a home you cannot return to anymore or a place, which never even existed. Connotations of sadness, yearning, profound nostalgia, and wistfulness are imbued into the state of hiraeth. Overall this beautiful, but painful longing is a an expression of an empty desire and grief over a past life or place. It is the ultimate signifier of a bond, which has ceased to exist. I am looking for a black and white pic that Juno reblogged a few months ago. A man was sitting on a bed with a white comforter, drinking coffee, and a baby (maybe 10-12 months) was sitting next to him. There was a window behind, so the lighting was beautiful. She actually tagged it Bleary, I think. I thought I’d saved or reblogged it, but I must have just liked it. And it is perfect for what I’m now writing. Did anyone grab it or reblog it? Anyone know what I’m talking about?
