I think my favorite thing about this Pinto moment is that Zach has just said “misappropriated” to the interviewer (while obviously tipsy, which is impressive) and Chris interrupts to say “misappropriated is a wonderful word,” so then Zach hOOKS HIS FINGER IN HIS LAPEL AND MURMURS “MISAPPROPRIATED, MISAPPROPRIATED” WHILE PULLING HIM AWAY FROM THE INTERVIEWER AND MAKING BEDROOM EYES AND THEN THEY QUICKLY SAY GOODBYE AND WANDER AWAY THEY HAVE KILLED ME I AM DEAD [X]

…that’s not chris’s hand feeding him, though, or is it?

I do not know–perhaps other beans can weigh in–but I’ma assume so until someone says differently

That was definitely my impression when I reblogged it back in 2015, but  I was but a mere wee innocent back then, with only a toe in this rabbit hole.  I may have been wrong.

Also, is he actually taking a bite of murder cupcake? because that would be a little meta

You could do a Pinto AU in which they weren’t city boys? Like a complete AU where they’d both grown up on farms or something? Or Spirk! Either way would be awesome! I love survival stories.

Man, right before my epic Trek conversion, I had started a Monaboyd that was basically a Town Mouse/Country Mouse sort of Brokeback situation (there were sheep). Then my harddrive crashed and I lost it (among like five other huge things—back your shit up people). I started rewriting it, but I had lost a lot and it was disheartening. So I still definitely have that idea backburnered, but to make it Pinto would take a lot of thought. I couldn’t really set it in the same time and place as I had the Monaboyd one, it just wouldn’t work.

Also my 1860s Western AU idea has a lot of these same elements. Zach is an eastern tenderfoot, after all, and Chris is a born and raised cattleman.

would read either way, but i would worry so much more over pinto- they would not do well in a true survival situation…

They really wouldn’t lol. A pinto version of this would be a short fic of them stuck in a ski cabin for a weekend with seven granola bars or something (which I can’t do because it is a monaboyd fic classic already).

I think this is why my fledgling ideas of a San Andreas style disaster pinto all dried up.  Because I kept trying to get them through the ridiculous disasters, and then thought of their personalities and thought, “oh they’re dead…but what if I… no, dead again.”  I still have thoughts about that story…
