So, I’ve had bronchitis for nearly two weeks, and I’m finally on three prescription meds which are maybe working, but fuck I feel like I’ve been out of it forever, in every single aspect of my life. So sorry I haven’t been around, and sorry that damned chapter hasn’t been written. Breathing, lately, has been a luxury.
Last year caught me unprepared, with no fic ready to post. But this year I’m going to try my best to have something on hand to celebrate the actual day. Soooo I figured I would give you all a nudge as well, in case you wanted a reminder to figure out some kind of a Pinto thing to post before we hit May 5.
This is the most low-key thing ever – there are no requirements, no specific challenge. It’s just an opportunity to spread the wordplay as foreplaylove!
If you’re new to shipping Pinto, maybe on the edges of the Pinto fandom, or even a Pinto shipper from way back who has been looking for an excuse to dive back in, this Pinto de Mayo would be a great chance to connect with your Pinto love and the Pinto fandom!
Contributions can be super easy – come up with a drabble or ficlet, make a quick graphic, or write a short declaration of why you think Pinto is so very awesome. You can even just queue up great posts by other Pinto fans to celebrate! Or, why not, grab your pal and use his muscular back to jot down a couple of headcanons for us all to read!
If you want to go big and do something a little splashier, like say write a longer fic, draw Pinto fanart or
a short
fan comic, create a meta post with
links to the best Pinto interviews, or give us all a list of your favorite Pinto
fanart or fanfics, that would be fantastic too! I can promise you Pinto fans out there would be thrilled if you decide to get a little ambitious!
But seriously, anything you want to share on this upcoming Pinto de Mayo will be terrific!
I’ll be posting periodic reminders of the approaching day, and I’ll tag them all #pinto de mayo 2017 so you can block if you want, or track that tag for encouragement and building anticipation!
Oh, you know how it is, just re-reading a bunch of Kirk/Spock fake relationship fics. Here
are my favorites, all AOS, in decreasing order of how much fake relationship
there is:
The Marrying
Kind, by spicyshimmy | Mature | 42,318 words | While on a diplomatic mission
to Delta IV, Jim flirts too much; Spock discovers the only logical solution to
avoid the complications of jealousy between ambassadors is to allow the
inference that Jim is already spoken for.
a sequence that you never
learned, by annataylor | Explicit | 64,669 words | When Jim gets it in his
head to adopt an eight year old Vulcan, Spock presents a logical solution to the
issue of Jim’s humanity: marriage to a Vulcan citizen.
Dynamic, by coffee666 |
Explicit | 16,970 words | Jim is tired of the crew assuming he and Spock don’t
work well together just because they happen to disagree a lot. To prove them
wrong, Jim convinces Spock they should start dating. Playing up their romantic
relationship in front of the crew for spite should be fun. The hard part is that
they’re both secretly crushing on each other.
When Light Shines, by
awarrington and blue_jack | Explicit | 15,677 words | Kirk and Spock are
negotiating Federation entry with the Athosian government while the Enterprise
is away on delivery duties, when one misunderstanding leads to
another.
the warp and
weft of your being, by tardigradeschool | Teen | 7,697 words | When getting
legally married to Spock is the only way to keep him on the ship, Jim is more
than willing to do so. (In fact, upon reflection, it turns out that there are
very few things he wouldn’t do for Spock.)
Challis, by yeaka | Teen |
3,968 words | Spock weasels into Jim’s mission via Mrennenimus Prime’s strange
traditions.
the
comfort you drew (from the light of the stars), by tardigradeschool | Teen |
5,331 words | When Jim agreed to pretend to be in a relationship with Spock, he
didn’t realize exactly what he was signing up for. (See: incompetent aliens and
broken bones. It’s not great, but Spock is.)
Not In Love Song, by waldorph
| Explicit | 2,779 words | The five times Spock wasn’t in love, and the one time
he couldn’t deny it anymore.
Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m
Yours), by kianspo | Teen | 10,927 words | In which Spock contemplates the
laws of attraction and realizes what a slippery slope that is only after he has
already fallen. There’s no help for him now.
It’s a particularly low energy day for me today, not helped by a lingering headache. But I’m going to try to get some writing done now.
Anyone else writing?
I’ve basically been crap at this after the first week…illness kids, work… the usual. But I’ve been watching your progress and am actually really impressed. So don’t be too hard on yourself. Now that my backup is done I need to work, but I could try sprinting science writing…
Don’t be too hard on yourself either – you’ve had a lot on your plate. ❤ And I’m up for sprinting whenever. 🙂
Actually, sprinting won’t really work, since I’m reading a paper, adding a few sentences to my document, reading another paper, and so on. But I am working on this report, so if it helps your writing to know that, we can check in now and again.
